Kilimanjaro Challenge

Event Date: 16 Jun 2013

My personal message

I made a spontaneous decision to climb Kili for the Chai organisation without really knowing what I was letting myself in for.
First of all, I thought I'd be sleeping in a hut at night- I was wrong. Secondly I didn't realise how cold it would get. I really hate the cold as most of you probably know. And lastly there is the challenge of the altitude.

But I am fortunate enough to be making this climb as a fit and healthy 41 year old. And I am sure it will be an amazing experience.

More importantly I am raising money for Chai cancer-an organisation that has helped several friends in such a positive manner, whose families have been affected by cancer.

Founded in 1990 by 2 remarkable women who both had bitter personal experiences of cancer, Chai has since earned the reputation of being a pioneer and leader in the field of cancer support. From its flagship centre in NW London and 7 Satellite centres across the UK, Chai currently provides much needed counselling, therapies and a myriad of specialised services to over 1750 cancer patients and their families.

This challenge is also for friends and family loved and lost as a result of cancer, and to help Chai provide for those in the future who will battle with cancer. Sadly, statistics predict that the number of people being diagnosed with cancer will continue to rise and, with this ever-increasing demand, Chai is being called upon more and more.

So please give generously, thank you and wish me luck.
