Chai Cancer Care provides comprehensive, professional and expert services to any member of the Jewish community affected by a cancer diagnosis – patients, their families and friends. Every week hundreds of people walk into one of Chai’s 11 centres across the UK and benefit from the wide range of services on offer to cancer patients and their loved ones. Services are available to all members of the Jewish community regardless of age, cancer type, stage of the disease or financial means.

The combination of earlier diagnosis and better treatments mean more people are living longer with cancer. As Chai’s national reputation has grown, so has the demand for their services. Chai is actively supporting over 2570 clients across the country and the number is growing monthly. In order to meet the increasing demand for its services, Chai is completely dependent on the generosity of our community.

Life changes completely with a cancer diagnosis, in just one day. Therein lies the synergy with this 24 hour endurance challenge which involves the peaks and troughs of the terrain symbolising the many ups and downs of a person's cancer journey. The very essence of Chai is for people not to be alone, it is to walk or trek alongside them. ‘Chai Challenges YOU’ is about showing strength and support in a very real way as Chai does.

The Chai 24 Peaks in 24 Hours challenge will take place between 25th–27th June 2017. Our adventurous women will scale a total of 13,986 feet of the most beautiful, rugged and demanding terrain in the Lake District. Every penny raised by our ‘Chai Climbers’ will go towards Chai’s Home Support Service, where Chai’s expertise and care is brought to clients in their own homes, hospitals and hospices.

As the number of diagnoses has risen and as more patients are turning to Chai for longer periods of support, the demand for home visits has shown a dramatic increase. In 2016, the Home Support Service cost £260,000.

Please support us in our efforts to raise over £100,000 for Chai’s Home Support Service by clicking on one of the links on the right hand side of this page.
